The Homeless Education Resource Office (HERO) works to provide necessary resources, supports, and referrals to help homeless children and youth to be successful in school and have a positive school experience.
Halloween Costumes
Finished with your Halloween costumes?
HERO is looking for costumes for the kids to play with while at the facility the week of Thanksgiving. Please bring your costumes to the Mayfair Entry closet behind the Info Desk.
James Lawson High School
We are connected in ministry with James Lawson High School through United4Hope. We have opportunities for members to volunteer at their food bank and tutor their students. We are also able to support students with clothing and essential goods.
JLHS – Tutoring
Math tutors are needed for freshman math students. Volunteers would start on November 13 and would work with students on Thursdays from 11:50 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. If interested, please contact Jackie Shrago, 615-310-3285.
JLHS has career workshops for students. Any experience, expertise, and/or enthusiasm you can contribute is welcome. JLHS wants to expose students to as many educational and career pathways as possible. If interested, please contact Jackie Shrago, 615-310-3285.
