September 1, 1941 Lucille Thompson becomes Westminster’s first full-time Director of Religious Education. |

1944 The Harwell family donates funds to Westminster to build chapel in memory of Sam Harwell, Sr. and Sam Harwell, Jr. who died in 1944. |

1946 The Religious Education wing is built and dedicated in 1947 (where the church offices & choir room are currently located). |

1946 Westminster Kindergarten, Nashville’s first Protestant kindergarten, is established. By 1957, the week-day kindergarten is self-supporting, with a staff of six full-time teachers and 75 students. |

1947 A new education building is completed and dedicated. |

June 1, 1948 Rev. Landern Chillders becomes the first assistant pastor, with responsibility for religious education. |
