October 22, 1871 Sunday School begins near 12th & Broadway as a mission of Nashville’s First Presbyterian Church, 3 months after the death of Thomas Verner Moore. |

June 6, 1872 Three trustees of the First Presbyterian Church buy property on Broadway for $4500 to locate the new church. |

August 5, 1872 The congregation breaks ground for the new church. |

November 23, 1873 In the midst of the Panic of 1873, Moore Memorial Presbyterian Church is formally organized with 45 founding members. |

March 22, 1874 The permanent Moore Memorial building is completed, paid for and dedicated. |

1874 The Moore Memorial session votes to admit black members and provides separate seating for them. |
