Security Enhancements 04/21/23
Members from the Property and Security committees, representatives from Westminster School for Young Children, and church staff, including Sophie Maness, Troy Carpenter, and Jo Ann McFarlin, have been meeting to develop enhanced security for both the WSYC and the church. This enhanced security will be a continuing process for weeks to come. Most immediate is the implementation of new codes for entrances. Previous codes that individuals have used are no longer valid. New codes are being assigned and will be given to group/event leaders, who in turn will give to participants in the group or for the event. Codes may not be shared with non-members of the church. Church members are reminded that the main entrance to the church is through the Mayfair entrance. Remember that previous codes are no longer valid; visitors to the church (both members and guests) who do not have a specific code should ring the doorbell at the Mayfair entrance for admittance. During off hours (the church office is open Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 4:30), participants will need the code from the group/event leader. We are mindful that change can be problematic. Our desire is not to hinder your presence at Westminster, but we must be mindful of the security of our children, staff, members, and guests. We ask for your patience and prayers as we negotiate this time in the life of our church.
Mask Update 02/24/2022
Beginning Sunday, February 24th, 2022, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Nashville is to become mask optional. The balcony will remain masks required. The Session will continue to reassess as conditions warrant.
Parking
There are parking lots on the north and west (Mayfair) sides of the building, and street parking on the east side and surrounding neighborhood. Please note that the north side parking lot is adjacent to a playground, so use extra caution because of the presence of children.
Traffic patterns in the back (north) parking lot
Westminster School for Young Children uses the back parking lot Monday through Friday for drop off and pick up. During those times, it is easy to get stuck until the process is finished.
Below are the times parents are lining up to drop off, and pick up the preschool children in our care:
Monday – Friday drop off in the morning is 8:30 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.
Monday pick up time is 11:30 a.m – 12:30 p.m.
Tuesday – Friday pick up time is 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
During these times, it is best to park somewhere other than the back lot. With new traffic patterns, we are working hard to have fewer cars lined up in the neighborhood and to provide safe patterns in the parking lot.
